Windshield Wipers: at least part three now

The test bed vehicle had to be scrapped. My Chevy, at 58k, had multiple failures in the trans, fuel pump and the ABS brakes. Total cost to repair was over $5,000. So we traded it on a Dodge Ram, 1500,Hemi motor. I feel like a fool driving this thing. But it was cheap thanks to my brother's employee discount. This machine has 21" wheels. A kid at my son's high school said: "your truck totally rocks dude!"

No matter.

The short wipers, (refer back in blog to windshield wiper entries), worked great. I now change all my wipers to 18" length. This seems to be the best length with the greatest coverage. The wipers are smooth and quiet, no chatter or windlift at high speeds. And best of all I did not notice any differance in the vision field. Because the Chevy failed before winter, I had to start the ice and snow potion of the test over again. The Dodge now has 18" blades in place of a 20" and a 22" blades. I will let you know how the short wipers work by spring.

It was very difficult to leave the Chevy in the dealer lot when I picked up the Dodge. Rubber mat, no carpet. Crank windows and vinyl seats. No air or cruise. She seemed so naked and skinny sitting there with out her ladder rack and tool box.

Worst yet I had to go back the next day to pick up the new plate and she was still sitting there in the same place, just off to the side with one mis-matched rear tire.

What could have been? I thought we would have been together for 250,000 miles, then a repower and another 200K; maybe a half a million miles. Who knows.

The Chevy did not let me down. GM did however and I'm not willing to forgive them so fast. I'm not angery anymore. The hurt is just pain now. The truck was what it was. And I accept that unconditonally.

Let it go. This is more important

From the MindBodySpirit Guide by way of a wise one.

The Realization of Creation;Ancient Sioux Wisdom

The Creator gathered all of Creation and said,
"I want to hide something from the humans until they are ready for it. It is the realization that they create their own reality."

The Eagle said,
Give it to me, I will take it to the moon."
Creator: "No., One day they will go there and find it."

The salmon said, "I will bury it on the bottom of the ocean."
Creator: "No. They will go there too."

The Buffalo said, "I will bury it on the Great Plains."
Creator: "They will cut into the skin of the Earth and find it even there."

Grandmother Mole, who lives in the breast of Mother Earth, and who has no physical eyes
but sees with spiritual eyes, said, "Put it inside of them."
And the Creator said, "It is done."

First Sunday Acts of Defiance

November of 2006

After much prayer and thought I have come to the conclusion that protests against the war are not enough. Acts of Defiance are now called for. I believe that these Acts must be peaceful and a personal sacrifice.

Because the War is about control of energy resources and we in the western world are by far the biggest consumers of economic products and services, these Acts of Defiance must impact the economy.

On the First Sunday of every month I will not participate in any economic activity. I selected Sunday because this day has been traditionally a day of Worship and Rest. Sunday has become just another day to consume objects and forces others to work to serve this mindless consumerism.

I will not: Work, go shopping, buy gas, read email, look at TV, pay to attend a sporting event, take part in political campaigns, do home work for school, clean the house or other chores, talk on the phone, run a lawn mower, leaf blower or snow blower…

I will: Go to Church, take a walk, ride a bike, visit a neighbor, invite a neighbor over for a cup of coffee, prepare a Sunday dinner, read, play a game with my children, fix some thing that is broken, do some gardening, rake leaves, shovel snow…

Just what is it about our “way of life” that we want our sons and daughters fighting and dying for?

I understand that some of us must work so we can pick an alternative day. Those of us that observe Saturday as a day of Faith should do so then. The thing is our economic activity is so closely watched, any down tick will be noticed by afternoon and be in the Wall Street Journal by Tuesday.

Remember the words of our President after the 9/11 attacks: “…don’t let this stop you from going to the Mall…”

I’m emailing using “blind carbon copy” to many on my email list. If you find any value in these “First Sunday Acts of Defiance”, add some ideas of your own and forward it on.

Peace
